About Nippers

2024-25 Nipper Registrations are not yet open.

Nippers is about learning new skills, gaining confidence and having fun in a safe beach environment. For Nippers, the beach is the classroom. They gain confidence by passing the ‘tests’ of swimming, board paddling, beach sprinting, dolphin-diving, spotting a rip, having fun with new friends and discovering things about themselves.

The skills gained at Nippers will stick to the soul like sand from the beach and be carried for life.

Nippers at Taree Old Bar SLSC

Nippers is a junior activities program and is open to children aged 5-13 years. It is a fun outdoors activity that develops a child’s confidence, teaches valuable life skills and safety knowledge. Most surf life saving clubs offer a Nippers program, even though the size and style of the activity will vary from club to club.

The Taree Old Bar SLSC Nippers program has something for the whole family:

  • It’s a great place to spend your Sunday morning, to make new friends for mum, dad and the kids
  • There are MANY supporting roles that you can assist with to get involved as a parent with Nippers (Just ask us!)
  • We celebrate and promote fun and safety in the water and on the beach
  • This year our club is Host of the Branch Carnival which is a great opportunity for skill development that the kids will love at our HOME beach.

IMPORTANT: It is a requirement that all children have a parent supervising them for the duration of Nippers. The Age Managers must be able to easily identify a child’s parent at all times during the session should the child need assistance.

What age group will my child be in?
